Desegregating Manhattan Public Schools

  • High School for Law, Advocacy and Community Justice 122 Amsterdam Avenue New York, NY, 10023 United States (map)

New York City has some of the best public schools in the country and some of the most progressive leaders. So why are our schools still so segregated? Join elected parents from Manhattan Community Education Councils for an evening with some of the young people who can help us understand why we MUST confront segregation in our schools.

The Epic Theatre Ensemble, IntegrateNYC and Teens Take Charge will take the stage to help us understand, how it feels to attend segregated schools in New York City. They will help us understand why it is important that we confront segregation, and create a more equitable education experience for all students. Our communities will strengthen, if we listen to our students, and Manhattan CEC leaders are excited to collaborate with you, as we take our next steps together to make our public schools great for all students.

We will provide light refreshments, childcare for school-age children and translation services.
